Blog 3: History of Evil Eye

EVIL EYE JEWELLERY

History Behind the Evil Eye: For many centuries in Turkish culture  it's believed that a jealous remark or an envious stare would bring bad luck. As a protective barrier, "Evil Eye" jewellery was created to stare back at the eyes of harm. Traditionally, these jewels are believed to bring happiness, love, success, good karma, positive energy and wealth to their keepers.

Material: Velvet/Suede leather
Brand: hand-crafted
Gender: unisex
Product: Bracelet
Approximately 50 cm brown leather string with hand painted evil eye beads.
Floating beads can simply be repositioned on the string to lock the bracelet.

BLOG 1 - AYLIN - ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Aylin.

I was “grown” (as we say in my home land) in Turkey for 30 years prior to my immigration to Australia. I came to Australia to be with my Husband, an Australian.

Although my training and degree qualification is that of a Mechanical Engineer, I love to express myself through creativity and my love for jewellery.

Turkey, the land of my birth is a country rich in colour, music and dance, expressed so frequently within our culture into our daily lives. Turkey is also the known around the world for its exotic jewellery and colourful handmade ornaments. In fact, this region from which I come, is famous in history for its magnificent jewellery throughout many civilisations.

And it’s that experience, being surrounded by so much colour and historical beauty, together with the new experiences of my new home, Australia, which has inspired me to use my talents, and my training ascetically, to create my own works of art, or just enjoyable creations of individual expressions.

In my blog I hope to share with you my enjoyment in these creations, and how they make me feel. My husband writes a blog aussieinadana.blogspot.com where you can learn about where I grew up so I won’t talk so much about that. Simply this is a place I can post pictures and share creations with you. If you wish to have one of my creations, both simple or complex, you can always contact me at aylincreations@gmail.com

I hope you enjoy my blog
